Anna’s lake La Albufera a natural place to relax and enjoy with the family.
Anna’s lake “La Albufera” is located in this Valencian town situated in the Canal de Navarres region, 15 km away from Xativa, 65 km from Valencia and 70 km from the beach, Anna surprises the visitor with the attractiveness of its landscape and architectural heritage.
The lake is 300 meters long and 180 wide surrounded by native nature of the area and recreational areas for the visitor to enjoy.
In Muslim times, the Almohad people turned it into a reservoir in order to irrigate the nearby lands, a mission that it has not ceased to have over the centuries, although since the middle of the 20th century the Albufera was conditioned to also convert it into a tourist destination. The lake is bordered by pine and banana trees that allow visitors to enjoy pleasant walks under its cozy shade.
Ducks, geese and herons nest on the island that emerges from the center of the lake, while in its depths we find carp and barbel.
The lake, which reflects the blue sky dotted with clouds, is protected by wooden and metal fences at the viewing points. Children here are welcome and enjoy themselves in complete safety. As it is still early, the temperature is mild, and the fauna is performing its morning ablutions.
One of the tourist attractions of this place is to take a boat trip on the lake. So if you want to row you can rent a little boat and enjoy a pleasant ride. In this way, you can get a little closer to an islet that is right in the middle of the lake. As mentioned, in this small islet, Mesolithic and Eneolithic remains were found, since the Anna lake Albufera was a place of prehistoric settlements.
Bathing is not allowed in the Anna’s lake La Albufera, but in the vicinity of the place there is a pool on which water falls from a waterfall that flows from the rocks. In this place you can take a dip. So don’t forget your swimsuit.
Until the 1960s, people could cool off in the waters of the Albufera Anna’s lake, but now swimming is not allowed. Next to it, separated by the vegetation and accessed by a staircase of logs embedded in the earth, there is a striking landscaped pool that is nourished by the water cascading from the upper rocks. There it is possible to take a good dip without any fear because the water is artificially regulated and it is the favorite place for children. In its vicinity there are changing rooms so that bathers can change comfortably and the nearby municipal swimming pool is included within the natural area.
The lake has areas for an outdoor picnic, running water fountains, lake bars, a children’s playground and a municipal swimming pool. In the vicinity of the Lake there is a Camping for tents and caravans.
Also called Albufera Anna’s lake, I went last year with my family. It is a natural area conditioned to enjoy nature with family, friends, partner, or alone. Apart from the lake, there are some natural pools of frozen water that are a joy, adorned with a delicious waterfall.
There are tables, and places to eat, rest, play, walk, etc. In short, an open-air place that delights the whole family.
The Albufera Anna lake is an essential visit in La Canal de Navarres, but both the town and the rest of the region have places of great beauty and an important cultural heritage with a lot of charm, routes, gastronomy, traditions that they know how to transmit in Anna Tourist Info, the Tourist Office located at the entrance of the municipality with the necessary information.
